About us

Sunnyside International Primary (SIP) opened its first class in 2016 with just a few students from different grade levels. Since then, SIP has been blossoming into a vibrant and dynamic learning community. As a primary division, SIP seeks to embody the values and beliefs of being a global citizen, as well as developing the skills and abilities of a 21st century learner.

Sunnyside as a ‘home away from home’

Within our friendly and nurturing school environment we provide a right at-home feel, and we value and respect each individual. Very often, you will hear someone commenting that ‘everyone knows everyone at Sunnyside’ and this is in part owing to the size of our school, but not without the togetherness and comradeship we have been fostering amongst the community.
The foundation of the Sunnyside education experience is more than achieving academic success. We are here to provide the best environment and experience in which students are able to become global citizens.

International Mindedness

In addition to learning about the Japanese language and traditional culture, we also hold events such as learning “Japaneseness” in our daily school life, to nurture identity.

Learning at Sunnyside

Underpinned by the Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework, our primary school curriculum supports each child in reaching their personal potential. Sunnyside has aligned its standard to the Japanese national curriculum which supports the framework of our learning and teaching. Our interdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach teaches students to take ownership and responsibility for their learning. They are able to think deeply about issues, work collaboratively, solve problems creatively, and communicate across a variety of media.
